Keisha Lance Bottoms, former Atlanta mayor, will be joining the Biden administration, the White House has announced. Ms. Lance Bottoms will take on the role of senior advisor for public engagement, “Which works at the local, state, and national levels to ensure community leaders, diverse perspectives and new voices have the opportunity to inform the work of the President in an inclusive, transparent and responsible way,” per the White House statement.
You may remember that Ms. Lance Bottoms was once considered for the role of Vice President during Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign, though ultimately Biden chose Kamala Harris. Bottoms, at the time was Atlanta’s mayor, a position she held from 2018-2022. Bottoms opted not to run for reelection, instead becoming a political commentator for CNN. Bottoms is noted for her strength, honor and integrity. We applaud her new role and wish her much success as she dons her Capitol Heels!
